Medicare Changes for 2017

In Medicare by Keith

Medicare just announced the Medicare changes for 2017.  Here are a few of the most important changes.

  • The cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment for social security benefits for 2017 is 0.3 % for 2017.  (for every $ 1,000 of social security benefits you get,you will receive a $ 3 raise)
  • For most, their part B premium will go from $ 104.90 to $ 109.00. If you were new to Medicare in 2016 you paid $ 121.80.  Your new premium will be $ 134.00.  This is also the premium for someone who becomes eligible for Medicare in 2017.
  • If you are subject to an income related adjustment (those who pay higher Part B premiums because of their income) that will also tick up slightly higher.
  • The Part B deductible has gone from $ 166 in 2016 to $ 183 in 2017.
